“Thrifter” Behavior

Thrift shopping is all about going into the thrift shop
and having no expectation of what you might find.
Understanding our customers is very important.
Thrift store clientele are unique in the sense that we have regular customers or people hoping to purchase things for their personal use and we have resellers who come in in hopes of purchasing something from us and selling it themselves. We cater to both and both should be viewed as equal in our eyes. In recent years there has been a resurgence of people going to thrift stores for vintage finds, whether it be clothing, furniture, or even household decorations.
Staying on top of the current trends is definitely something managers should be on top of although it can be difficult because it is always changing. Our Long Beach location is fortunately situated between retro row and Cal State Long Beach. By simply studying and watching what our customers purchase we can develop and understand what may be “in” or “hot” at the time. Be observant!
