Product Placement

The only way to know how customers see your business
is to look at it through their eyes.
Visual merchandising is the practice of organizing and displaying products in a retail space.
It is used to highlight products and their features, grab customers’ attention, make customers feel comfortable and promote sales. The placement of items and overall general organization of the store can and should be our best salesman. Carefully placed items allow customers to visualize their potential purchase in their home or in the case of clothing, what it would look like on them.
In order to be effective in this process we have to take a few things into consideration, we have to put ourselves into the shoes of a customer. Items that are strewn about and unorganized are less likely to be purchased, who wants to go through unsized and mismatched clothing? Who wants to sort through a basket of picture frames to find the one that works for them? Ease of access is essential when it comes to our customer base. Items on the shelves and display’s should be neatly organized and fronted so the customer can see the item clearly as well as the price.
Some methods we have found to be tried and true are drawing the customer in with products that are considered more rare or unique. The goal should be to draw a passerby in with just a glance through the window. To do this we can utilize the front of our locations as a focal point. Vintage or antique items can be strategically placed in the front as soon as a customer walks in. The customer may be more likely to spend more time in the store to see what other rarities we may have.
Another effective strategy is creating displays with items that are alike. We can use dress mannequins with clothing that is in season or even get creative and use our inner fashionista to create an outfit ready for the runway. If you’re not creative ask for help. Living room settings can be easily created with furniture on hand. Grab a couch, a coffee table, a floor lamp, and a side table and envision your life after The Beacon House as you already spend too much time doing.
